Sara C. Roethle has done it again! Another "can't stand to put it down until I've finished" book. Bought it at 2 am and am already finished at 7:30am.This ranks as my favorite of the "Clockwork Alchemist" series. I've loved seeing the development of Liliana, the very human automaton. But my favorite character is Hamlet. I am very much hoping to see more in the development of Hamlet, the seemingly inhuman automaton. This book wraps up one storyline, but opens the door for so many more. It will be interesting to see more of London and life through the eyes of not-quite-so-jaded-as-he-might-like-you-to-think Ephraim Godwin. And to hear more of the adventures of Arhyen and Liliana. I always seem to say this, but it's always true - if you are looking for characters that you can really care about - whether they are "good" or "bad" - Sara C. Roethle is a great source. Her characters seem so real to me. Very human. Flaws and good points. Just like life. And I keep turning the pages because I can't wait to see what happens for them next!
That's the fun about fantasies that no matter how silly, gruesome and gorey they're not real. My mind always enjoys the far reaches of believable when I read of automatons that feel and alchemy that works. But sometimes it's just good as a reader to let go of real possibilities and acquiesce to the probabilities. Actually they are more delightful and this series with our quirky characters will be for you. Thoroughly enjoyed this read. Hope you do too.
I enjoyed the story line so far, but have to say this book went on and on a bit. There seemed to be very little action most of the time and what there was made very little sense to me. Having said that, it did have its moments that I was on the edge of my seat wanting more. All in all the worst of the series thus far.
I really enjoyed this story which at it's base is a love story between a man and a rather unique automaton. It was well written and edited. Not quite steampunk but set in that time frame.
Apt ending to the series! Loved the main characters, and here's hoping their return in the future! I'm ready for another trilogy!
This trilogy is fantastic. I can hardly wait to read the follow up series! Rumor has it these two make an appearance at some point!
...by surprise a bit at the end. The characters are rich and fun, well worth knowing. What else is there?
