I spent the best 6 months of my life living in Mallorca and studying at the Univeristat de les Illes Balears, but recently returned to the greatest island in the world with my fiancee. We picked up this book mostly for its suggested hikes, hidden calas (coves), etc. We couldn't have been happier. We didn't really use the book for anything in Palma (the capital) or anywhere else I had already been, but we went on several recommended hikes and visited some of the calas. All were excellent. In particular, we recommend the "Four Coves" walking tour on page 148. Wear comfortable shoes and take food and water if you do the tour, but the beaches are well worth the hike. They were virtually deserted when we went, too.
We recently took a trip to Mallorca and this book was extremely helpful. We used it every day and we never left home without it. The maps are very easy to follow and it gives you great tips on what to do, how to get there and what the cost will be. I recommend this book.
This is probably a "must have" for research material if taking a trip to Mallorca, Spain, but there are better books available which include removable maps.
This book was absolutely what we needed for a week on Mallorca. It gave us the inside scoop on markets and festivals to attend, how to get there, where to eat, and it never sent us off track. Highly recommended!
It's o.k. Not one of the better if the Lonely Planet series but adequate for most purposes. It could do a better job listing more hotels and restaurants.
